Ranters “Glennsta” aka Glenn Pollett and “Pearla” aka Marc Lambourne have invoked the wrath of the Sydney Stewards. Both have been charged under AR228 (a):
Pearla faces a second charge under AR228 (d):
The charges spring from the 20th April edition of the Monday flagship “The Rant” reviewing the final day of the Randwick carnival.
Glennsta entertained us, as he does, with some satire about the plunge on Kinane.
Unfortunately, not everyone was amused…possibly even the winners?!
It's a members-only segment, but email admin@racingrant.com for a free look as Racing NSW and its mates have been viewing without paying.
The light-hearted discussion included mentions of early Quaddie payouts and frozen TAB accounts.
Not sure why Sky Racing tipster and Jockey manager, Mark Guest was watching our show (to get some free tips ….about how to have fun in racing?) but Guest felt privileged enough to send a text about the show to the Chief Steward asking a call back.
The CS obliged and the rest is history…
AR 228 (a) to (d)…and maybe… to (z) here we come!
So Ranters, you now know that some heavy hitters are watching the show with you, including from time to time the CHIEF STEWARD himself and possibly some of his close friends.
Before long, NSW Jockeys Association CEO Tony Crisafi also fessed up to being a secret watcher.
I say ‘secret’ because neither Guest nor Cristafi are registered Ranters or paying consumers of our wisdom and wit.
Cristafi reached the CHIEF STEWARD through another Racing NSW honcho Graeme Hinton (COO). Listen to his "Hi Mate" email below:
After his usual efficient inquiry, the CHIEF STEWARD has now charged Glennsta and Pearla.
So, Racing NSW has now decided to take our private and ‘fun discussion’ among ourselves to the general public and eventually, the Courts…in order to preserve the good image, interests and integrity of racing.
Since each and every one of you would qualify as the ‘fair- minded and properly informed hypothetical bystander’ it would be good to hear your thoughts about this latest brainstorm from the Establishment.

Mark Van Gestal and his disciples should go and do some knitting with all the old ladies at the local mothers club…about all they are good for!

Mark Van Gestal and his hangers on should all go and buy a dress and go knitting at the local mothers club!

the way i see it the stewards are to blame for carrying on like pork chops.they should ignore the so called complaint and focus on real issues.

Tongue in check comment taken out of context.
JMac was done for betting so like Steve Smith/Dave Warner he should expect a few comments and the tone of the comment was how well he is currently riding.
Up n Rolling ride….play on. Robert Thompson nothing to see here.
Pollet gave JMac a back handed compliment… Outrageous, drop everything.

Not a clever decision stewards .we should be able to joke on a private show or at the race track

I am more disgusted at theft of IP from non payers as if we allow this to occur then no one can make a business in publishing .Stewards must lay charges against those who stole your content and passed it on . This should be investigated not a joke as was how I took it and to paying members . Keep up the great work as your show and events like master class are what educates people too take racing seriously not as a gamble but a way to learn by doing form you can win . Love the show and can’t wait till next Lismore cup type , master class get together .

Have Stewards really got nothing better to do ?.

Time to stand up to the fascist racing stewards, what you say on your private members only show . is freedom of speech.. Wholeheartedly support you guys.. i’d still be paying up and watching but hard financial times here.. No one gives me a free viewing, nor do i expect one. Everyone who watched this without paying including guest and stewards are stealing from your business.. And have no right to charge you. Marc actually need to be running racing, we might see some positive growth again in wagering… Cheers boys and good luck..

Racing Rant is private membership. How dare these non-member interlopers invade our privacy? This is harassment of each and every member. Harassment is against the law, isn’t it?

Grow up stewards. How about doing your job and focus on integrity ‘ON THE TRACK’ rather than worry about light hearted comments is a racing entertainment show (which is for members only). The show also educates gamblers and promotes gambling. Thats right – the same gambling dollars that PAY YOUR WAGES!!!

Why is this such a sensitive subject. A few years ago James McDonald was found guilty of betting in races. So a tongue in cheek joke upsets people associated with McDonald. They complain to stewards who sanction Glenn and Marc. What is the big deal no one except those people took any thing said as anything more than a joke. McDonald cheated the rules and now gets upset if anyone mentions or jokes about it too bad so sad for him. Grow up and just cop a bit of banter it is never going away. Comedians take the p—s out of people and things they did every day without repercussions. Surely the stewards have bigger problems than a quick witted joke about a jockey to worry about. I think this inquiry is nothing but a joke and maybe there should be an inquiry into the inquiry and how it came about. I read comments such as stop bring up McDonald’s past but the same people refer to Glenn’s past there in itself is a joke. Other people associated with racing calling him an oxygen thief on twitter and then being liked by McDonald’s partner. No action taken yet another reason this entire thing stinks.

Anyone who views a subscriber only program without payment is a person of questionable integrity. The fact that this person is associated with racing is prejudicial to the interest of racing. I await with baited breadth the charging of Mark Guest

Very disappointing. This is a members only site. The only way Mark Guest has access to the link is for it to be passed on my a member.
You have to fight this under those grounds.
